MUNSTER – Members of Troop #105 culminated their 5th grade year by earning the highest award possible for Junior Girl Scouts – the Bronze Award – and learned about helping others in the process.

“As part of our project, our troop donated toys to the sick children staying on the Pediatrics floor of Community Hospital in Munster,” explains Troop Leader Diane Baginski. “We decided to run a mini carnival with the proceeds being used to purchase $300 worth of toys which we delivered personally to the Pediatrics department. The Bronze Award project has helped our troop realize how much we can help people in our community.”

“We appreciate donations such as the one we received from Girl Scout Troop #105 as it brings a smile to our patients’ faces at what can be a scary time,” said Teresa Meece, BS, RNC, Pediatrics nurse manager. “We are able to provide the children in our care with age appropriate toys so they do not fall behind developmentally during their hospitalization and that they are appropriately stimulated cognitively, too,” she said.
