FAIR OAKS – Fair Oaks Farms is converting its entire fleet of delivery trucks to run on renewable fuel made from cow manure. The dairy farm with more than 25,000 head of cattle on its Newton County farm plans to convert the waste generated there into a usable bio-fuel.
Fair Oaks has a fleet of 42 trucks that currently operate on compressed natural gas instead of diesel. The farm also has built two CNG refueling stations so its fleet is able to refuel on its trips to and from locations in Kentucky.
Nutrients remaining from the manure to fuel process will be used as fertilizer on the farm.
