Aug. 20 event will provide update on Ignite the Region initiative

Northwest Indiana ForumOrganizers of a Region initiative to develop a long-term strategy to strengthen Northwest Indiana’s economy are ready to provide on update on their progress.

The Northwest Indiana Forum is hosting a reception on Aug. 20 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton to provide an update on the Ignite the Region initiative. Featured presenter is U.S. Congressman Pete Visclosky.

The event can be attended in-person with the venue offering indoor and outdoor meeting areas. In accordance with COVID-19 protocols; tables and seating will maintain social distancing guidelines.

Masks will be required and hand sanitizer will be readily available. An online streaming option also will be available with a link being sent to registered attendees prior to the event.

The in-person event starts at 3 p.m. with the virtual portion to follow at 3:45 p.m.

The Northwest Indiana Forum and community partners have been working on the initiative the past two years.

The implementation teams are focusing on five pillars including business development and marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, talent, placemaking and infrastructure. Each team will share a progress report on their specific areas to attract investment and talent to the Region.
