LAPORTE – Indiana University Health LaPorte Hospital has awarded three employees its Giraffe Award for their efforts during a recent employee immunization drive. They are director Ann Mejer and medical assistants Tami Yarbough and Patricia Schult.
The Giraffe Award is given to employees who have gone beyond the call of duty in their jobs. In 2010, the immunization rate for all hospital employees and volunteers was 49 percent. In an effort to raise that, the employee health team immunized 75 percent of hospital personnel in 2011.
President and CEO Thor G. Thordarson praised the department for their dedication and congratulated Mejer, Yarbough and Schult for their efforts.
