HAMMOND – The Indiana Welcome Center is accepting entries in its annual Ugly Lamp Contest through Nov. 21. Lamps can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The contest is a tribute to the 1983 film, “A Christmas Story,” in which Mr. Parker wins a leg lamp as a “major award” from a contest in the newspaper. The film was set in the fictional city of Hohman, Ind., which in actuality was Hammond.
Visitors will vote on winners in two categories – Born Ugly and Made Ugly. Winners will be announced Dec. 17 at the Welcome Center.
