Save the Dunes holds green workshop for yards

MICHIGAN CITY – Save the Dunes will hold a free workshop for region residents on how to make simple changes on their property to protect Lake Michigan. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 in Valparaiso.

The agenda includes watersheds and water pollution, water friendly lawn care, rain gardens and rain barrels, native plants, composting, Indiana Wildlife Federation programs, filtering pollutants and stabilizing soils, and a planning exercise to reduce pollution from your property.

The workshop is sponsored by Save the Dunes, Indiana Wildlife Federation, the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission and Purdue Extension. In addition, it is supported by TogetherGreen, an Audubon program funded by Toyota.
