Dean Rothschild from Rothschild Agency, Inc. in Merrillville, Indiana, is the recipient of the 2017 Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI) Harry P. Cooper, Jr. Industry/Public Image Award. This award was developed to recognize someone who enhances the public image of the insurance profession through their professional activities and personal integrity in their business activities and in their community.
Rothschild is the president of Rothschild Agency Inc. One of his priorities in his career has been to improve the perception of the insurance industry as a whole. “Public opinion of the insurance industry and agents in general has been rather dismal for my entire career,” he explained. “I have also championed the industry as a rewarding and challenging profession.”
He has served on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club and TradeWinds Services for more than 20 years. Since 2000 he has been on the IIAI”s government affairs committee. He has also coached local sports teams, taught risk management courses at Purdue University, and served on countless advisory councils for insurance companies. He has used each of these opportunities to present the insurance industry as an asset in every community. “We need to deliver the message in every situation possible from one‐on‐one meetings to civic gatherings, advertising, social media, speaking engagements, etc. that we as independent agents are proud messengers of an industry that helps put the world back in the shape they were after a loss or disaster.”
