Purdue Federal Credit Union recently hired James Dougherty as its vice president of retail sales and service. He oversees its branch network, customer and investment services.
He is charged with improving his team's ability to work effectively, which will lead to better member services, according to a press release.
Dougherty has 20 years of experience working in the financial industry from branch manager to vice president. He most recently was vice president of bank operations with Publix Employees Federal Credit Union in Lakeland, Florida.
Dougherty first moved to the Indianapolis area after earning a bachelor's degree in political science from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He started his financial career at Union Federal Bank in Indianapolis. He then earned an MBA from Anderson University in Indiana.
Dougherty also volunteers regularly for organizations like Meals on Wheels, financial literacy and Second Harvest in Florida.
Purdue Federal was founded in 1969 on the Purdue University West Lafayette campus. It now has more than 85,000 members nationwide, including many in Northwest Indiana. Its assets total more than $1.7 billion.
