LAPORTE – Save the Dunes will hold a public meeting for stakeholders near the Little Calumet River East Branch from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Red Mill County Park near LaPorte.

The agenda includes presentations on the Little Calumet watershed management plan and monitoring efforts for the watershed. There also will be a walking tour of the Red Mill Pond restoration, weather permitting.

“The LCEB group is excited to highlight this restoration success story as we move forward with the watershed management plan,” said Jennifer Birchfield, water program director for Save the Dunes. “We hope this plan will help inspire and enable others to implement projects similar to the Red Mill Pond restoration throughout the watershed.”

The East Branch of the Little Calumet River begins in LaPorte County and flows west through Porter County, draining nearly 50,000 acres.
