MISHAWAKA – The Daughters of Penelope, a non-profit philanthropic organization, has opened a three-story senior, low-income apartment complex in Mishawaka.

Forty of the 50 units in the building on South Merrifield have been leased. Pets are allowed; the complex does not allow smoking.

Angela Magrames, a spokeswoman for Daughters of Penelope, said the investment in the complex is a way for the organization to give back to the community.
