GARY – Latonya Lark, a technologist in the Neuro EDX department at Methodist Hospital’s Gary campus, has received the Spirit Award from the hospital.
Lark was cited for “going beyond the call of duty” for working with the mother of a small child to schedule a test at 9 p.m. in order to accommodate the child’s needs. Even though the department closes at 3 p.m., Lark worked with the mother who thought 9 a.m. would be a time when the child could fall asleep so the test could be completed.
“Latonya is excellent at working with the kids that need EEGs and is an asset to the department,” said Laurel Valentino, director of the Neuroscience Institute at Methodist Hospitals. “She acts as a role model for other employees by always putting the patient first.”
