VALPARAISO – Porter Health System has introduced “Legs of Life,” a free community wellness program that screens people who may be at risk for peripheral artery disease (PAD).

The Society for Interventional Radiologists says PAD affects some 12 million people in the United States, most commonly those over 50, those who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes.

Symptoms include pain, cramping, and fatigue in the legs while walking or discoloration and pain in the feet.
