HAMMOND – Valparaiso attorney Kenneth J. Allen and his wife, Nina, are funding the purchase of child identification kids for kindergarten and first-grade students in Northwest Indiana public schools. The kits are being distributed by the United Way.

Representatives from the Lake, Porter and LaPorte County United Ways joined Allen in making the announcement.

“The Kinderprint program not only helps law enforcement locate lost or abducted kids, it encourages parents to discuss safety with their children beforehand,” said Allen. “Prevention is the goal. The more kids learn about avoiding danger, the better.”

The 19,500 kits will allow parents to record their child’s name, address, physical description, birth date, dental records, fingerprints, DNA sample, a photograph and emergency contact information.
