Indiana gets $1.5 grant from Department of Labor

INDIANAPOLIS – The U.S. Department of Labor has announced that more than $12 million in grants have been awarded to nine nonprofit organizations across the country to provide employment and support services for incarcerated female adults as they make the transition back into their communities.

One of those organizations is Volunteers of American of Indiana. Based in Indianapolis, the organized received $1.5 million to serve 250 women for the next two years. Services include educational and vocational training, self-development and empowerment classes, individual and group addiction counseling, trauma recovery counseling, family reunification services and a mentoring program.
