HAMMOND – The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will host a special event for area fire, police, military and Hoosier Helpers to thank them for their service.
Holiday for Heroes will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Indiana Welcome Center at Interstate 94 and Kennedy Avenue South. Light refreshments and cookies will be served and attendees may take a free photo with Santa.
A station will be available to sit down and write a letter to or color a picture for military troops overseas. Those being honored are asked to bring their police, firefighter, military or Hoosier Helper ID.
