BRUSSELS, Belgium – ArcelorMittal announced its third quarter profits fell 50 percent compared to one year ago. The decline was attributed to an uncertain economy.
Net income was $659 million, down from $1.4 billion one year ago. Steel shipments rose to 23.2 million tons.
ArcelorMittal operates mills in East Chicago and Burns Harbor in Northwest Indiana, a development center in East Chicago and a finishing mill in New Carlisle.
