PORTER – Volunteers from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore are riding Amtrak’s Wolverine three days a week, presenting information to travelers from Chicago to Detroit about the national park.
The volunteers hope to encourage train travelers to visit the area they zip through each day.
Amtrak is working with the park in what it calls The Trails and Rails Program. The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore effort is part of a program that combines the efforts of Amtrak and the National Park Service at 19 parks across the country.
