EAST CHICAGO – Ameristar Casinos of Las Vegas, the owner of Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, plans to apply for a license for a casino in Massachusetts.
The company has acquired land near Springfield for $16 million in order to build a casino and hotel.
The site in western Massachusetts is one of four locations approved for land-based casinos in the state. The 41-acre site is along Interstate 291, which connects with New Haven, Conn.
