MISHAWAKA – AM General has received a $64 million contract from the Defense Department to complete work on development o9f the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, which will replace the Hummer.
AM General manufactures the Hummer.
The contract with the Defense Department calls for AM General to deliver 22 prototypes that will be tested before the military makes the final choice for the vehicle. Two other companies also are providing prototypes.
