The Cedar Lake Historical Association was honored with the Indiana History Outstanding Event or Project Award from the Indiana Historical Society.

The award presentation took place Oct. 5 at the Museum at Lassen’s Resort.

The award-winning project features culinary programs at the museum that focus on Potawatomi culinary heritage. The project facilitated a relationship with the Pokagon and of Potawatomi that is sure to lead to future partnerships.

The program was started to help establish the museum as a historic attraction in the Region. Events include “taste of nostalgia” dinner cruises at sunset and small-batch ice cream made with the resort's specialty menu in mind. Chef Erik Hinds helped develop the series.

Since implementing the concept, new visitors and volunteers have found the museum, along with new motivation for current volunteers.

The Indiana History Outstanding Organization Event or Project Award recognizes an organization for implementing a project that features an educational event or history project during the past year. It also must relate to the mission of the organization.
