Entrants in Purdue University Northwest's 13th annual Big Sell competition have a chance to win $10,000 this year.

The top 10 submissions will have the chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges who will determine the winners during the PNW Big Sell from 1 to 4 p.m. April 27 at the Purdue University Northwest Commercialization and Manufacturing Excellence Center, 7150 Indianapolis Blvd., Hammond.

“We are excited to have the ability and funds to host our annual pitch competition once again,” said senior Landin Ready. “Our competition is not only open to Purdue students, but also to anyone willing to share their unique vision and ideas. Our mission is to seek out innovative start-ups and help raise awareness of their ideas. All ages, any idea, at any stage in development, come on out and pitch your ideas!”

Ready is a member of PNW's social entrepreneurship class, which produces the competition and offers judges for the two-minute submissions.

The first place winner will earn a $10,000 prize, while the second place winner gets $3,000 and third $1,000.

Entries will be accepted until noon April 1, and must include a two-minute video describing the idea.

The top 10 entries will be notified by April 7 so they will have time to prepare for the Big Sell.

Entrepreneurship Professor Alexandra Moran from the College of Business and Mont Handley from the PNW office of commercialization and research, co-chair the event, which started in 2011. Students started planning the competition eight years ago and it has since grown to include entries from around the country.
