Whitney Bradshaw is the new curator for Michigan City-based Lubeznik Center for the Arts.

The artist, activist, curator and former social worker is also a longtime educator. For 10 years, she chaired the visual art conservatory at the Chicago High School for the Arts, and for 13 years, she was an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago.

She also curated collections for LaSalle Bank and Bank of America.

“Whitney is a consummate professional,” said Janet Bloch, executive director of LCA, in a press release. “Her experience in curation and education is vast, and in addition, she is a successful practicing artist. This is a winning combination of skills.”

Bradshaw is tasked with creating exhibitions, and building relations in the community and with other museum professionals and artists.

She is a longtime fan of the LCA.

“The programming is consistently contemporary, engaging and intersectional,” Bradshaw said. “LCA is truly a Midwestern gem! I'm dedicated to equity, inclusion and cultural competency, and I believe I have a lot to contribute.”

The LCA, 101 W. Second St. in Michigan City, is a nonprofit that provides access to exhibitions and programs that explore contemporary ideas.
