Mary DeBoer recently was appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb to serve as a judge in the Porter County Circuit Court.
She will succeed Judge Mary Harper, who is retiring Dec. 31. The state said Harper is the longest serving woman in the Indiana judiciary.
DeBoer earned her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and later earned a law degree from Valparaiso University. She served as a deputy prosecutor in Starke and Porter counties and also has been in private practice.
DeBoer has served as a magistrate for the Porter County Superior Courts in Valparaiso since 2011.
She will be sworn into office on a date to be determined.
