Businesses based in Eastport Centre Business Park in Valparaiso raised more than $22,000 to support United Way of Porter County social service programs.
Participating businesses included Chester Inc., McAfee Animal Hospital, Sensit, 1st American Management, Great Lakes Labs, Vertical Financial Group, Shoremet, Fairway Laser and Ivy Tech Community College.
“Eastport Centre businesses are amazing to work with,” said Kim Olesker, president and CEO of United Way of Porter County. “They have a strong sense of corporate responsibility to the community.”
Challenge participants who donated $100 or more had an opportunity to vote for one of five program categories where the dollars raised would be directed. A final tally of the votes revealed a three-way tie for substance abuse treatment and recovery programs, basic needs and emergency assistance programs, and youth mentorship programs.
“The challenge brought together business neighbors to be a part of something bigger for our community,” said John Marshall, CEO of 1st American Management. “Supporting United Way, an Eastport Centre neighbor, in the great things they do is an easy way for us to do our part.”
United Way of Porter County supports more than 50 programs in Northwest Indiana by providing more than $2.3 million in community resources to improve lives.
