Purdue University Northwest will break ground Aug. 23 on its new $40 million Bioscience Innovation Building. It's expected to be finished by 2020.

HAMMOND – Purdue University Northwest will host a ground breaking event Aug. 23 on its new $40 million Bioscience Innovation Building, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) centered facility, which will house the college’s nursing and biological sciences departments.

The event will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the PNW Hammond campus, 7141 Woodmar Ave., on the northeast lawn outside Charles H. Lawshe Hall.

The building is expected to be completed by 2020. Funding for the project was approved by the Indiana General Assembly in 2017.

The building’s estimated 68,000-square-foot interior will be designed to create a dynamic learning environment promoting collaboration, encouraging dialogue, and giving students opportunities to utilize modern instructional labs and classrooms.

Details about the project, including live-stream video of the construction site, is available at Purdue Northwest’s website.
