HAMMOND – The Hammond Recycling Department and the City of Hammond will host the Hammond Environmental Regional Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at the Civic Center, 5825 Sohl Ave. Admission is free.
The inaugural event is designed to provide recycling tips for families. The Lake County Solid Waste Management District’s Enviromobile will be there, along with Woodsy Owl, Hooper the Recycling Caterpillar and Smokey Bear. In addition, some 30 companies will be present, along with Horseshoe Casino, the Purdue Calumet Sea Grant Program, the Hammond Parks Foundation, Menards, the National Forest Service, Master Gardeners, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Hammond Port Authority and Bascor.
