Purdue University’s Union Club Hotel, which will be managed and operated by Merrillville-based White Lodging, is on pace to reopen this fall, possibly as soon as August.

The Union Club Hotel at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, has been undergoing renovations since July 2019. Representatives for White Lodging said the 182-room hotel also has a new management team in place including Victoria Wicks, general manager; Brett Ociepka, assistant general manager; and Stephanie Portrey, director of sales and marketing.

“We’re all adjusting to what might be the new normal as we emerge from this health crisis,” said Wicks. “There’s no predicting the future, but our focus, in addition to ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the project, is on bringing a new era of hospitality to guests visiting the university and the surrounding area this fall.”

Hotel staff has been working and preparing the facility potentially to open by August.

The Union Club Hotel renovation involves makeovers of all guest rooms and public spaces, including an updated lobby to create a grand entrance with a modern loft-like feel. A yet-to-be-announced full-service restaurant, cocktail bar and coffee and pastry counter also will be added.

The hotel also will be a training center for Purdue’s hospitality and culinary students.

White Lodging, established in 1985, is a hospitality development and management firm, which operates and manages more than 90 hotels and 30 restaurants across 20 states.
