United States Steel Corp. named Daniel Killeen general manager of Gary Works, the company’s largest integrated steel making facility.

The company said Killeen will oversee the day-to-day operations of Gary Works.

Killeen joined Pittsburgh-based U. S. Steel in 1996 as a management associate at Gary Works. He went on to work in a series of increasingly responsible positions in the iron and steel making departments at U. S. Steel's Mon Valley Works.

In 2007, Killeen relocated to U. S. Steel Serbia as the general manager of finishing before taking the role of general manager of primary operations in 2008. In 2009, he returned to the U.S. as the division manager of steel production at Gary Works where he remained until 2011, when he returned to Europe as plant manager operations at U. S. Steel Serbia before transferring to U. S. Steel Kosice, where he held roles in operational improvement and safety.

In 2013, he returned to Gary Works where he held several positions in coking, finishing and primary operations before advancing to his current position as plant manager primary operations in 2016.

Killeen, who was raised in Pittsburgh, is a 1996 graduate of Robert Morris University with a degree in management. He and his family reside in the Northwest Indiana area.
