HAMMOND – City officials in Hammond have made a proposal to PotashCorp. to locate a $100 million facility in the city’s Gibson Yard.
The Canadian fertilizer producer has been talking with Indiana Harbor Belt Railway to open a transfer facility in Hammond. It would occupy some 90 acres.
If Potash moves to Hammond it would create 80 jobs in addition to some 225 construction jobs.
