NIRPC hosting informational sessions on 2050 Long-Rang Plan

NIRPCRepresentatives from the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission will be available at various events around the Region the next few weeks to discuss its 2050 Long-Range Plan.

The plan is a strategy to examine how to best prepare the Region for the future, including where investments should be made for the betterment of Northwest Indiana. Investments may include future transportation needs, the environment, land use and economic development.

NIRPC representatives will be at these Region events:

  • Oct. 4, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fall Pop-Up, Crown Point Library, 122 S. Main St., Crown Point
  • Oct. 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Harvest Festival, Founders' Square Park, 300 Founders' Square, Portage
  • Oct. 11, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fall Open House, State Street Community Church, 209 State St., La Porte
  • Oct. 12, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Wickedly Whiting Monster Dash 5K, Whiting Lakefront Park, 1500 Park Road, Whiting
  • Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 15th Annual Latino Resource Festival, Irving Elementary School, 4727 Pine Ave., Hammond
  • Oct. 19, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Harvest Festival, Central Park Plaza, 63 Lafayette St., Valparaiso        
  • Oct. 20, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Michigan City Farmers Market, 8th and Washington Street, Michigan City
