GRIFFITH – Lake Area United Way is donating $5,000 to assist in the near and long-term relief efforts to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

“We’ve all been shocked and moved by the images and stories coming from the communities affected by Hurricane Sandy,” said Kay Nelson, director of environmental affairs for the Northwest Indiana Forum and 2012 board chair for LAUW.

“We give our sincere thanks to United Way of New York City who will manage the regional fund,” said Nelson. “They will use this gift from the people of Lake County efficiently and effectively to serve those in need.”
