Holcomb names new commissioner of Indiana Department of Revenue

Bob Grennes was named commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue by Gov. Eric Holcomb.

“Bob is a hard-working public servant who has taken his private sector experiences and leveraged them to improve our state,” Holcomb said. “I’m confident that under his direction the Department of Revenue will continue to ensure that Hoosiers receive great government service at a great value.”

Grennes’s appointment is effective Feb. 1.

Grennes has served as chief operating officer at the Indiana Department of Revenue since 2017, where he has overseen the department’s operations and customer service. He also serves on the Project NextDOR Executive Steering Committee, which leads a modernization project that will incorporate greater use of technology for filing tax returns, making payments and managing accounts.

Grennes has more than four decades of private sector experiencing leading information technology and financial services organizations including at USA Funds, USA Group and Sallie Mae.

The Indiana Department of Revenue administers 65 tax types and annually processes nearly $21 billion in tax revenue.
