HAMMOND – Northern Indiana Public Service Co., Methodist Hospitals, the City of Hammond and the American Heart Association are teaming up to facilitate CPR training for seventh and eighth graders in four schools.

NIPSCO is providing $30,000 for 1,000 American Heart Association CPR Anytime kits that will be used in the classroom. Training will be done by Methodist Hospitals.

Training will take place at Gavit Middle School through June 3, Eggers Middle School on June 1-2, Clark Middle School in Whiting on June 6, and Scott Middle School on June 6-7.

“Teaching youth about how to safely handle an emergency or life-threatening situation can mean the difference between life and death,” said Jimmy Station, NIPSCO’s CEO. “At NIPSCO, our employees are focused on working safely each day. So, we are proud to support the American Heart Association and the City of Hammond in this important initiative, which can have a direct role in saving someone’s life.”
