Centier Bank Associates Help Battle Breast CancerMERRILLVILLE – In the battle against cancer, every dollar makes a difference. With that in mind, Centier Bank associates helped the American Cancer Society’s North Central Indiana Region make steps toward a cure in October 2017 by forming teams to participate in Making Strikes Against Cancer, raising $5,904.17 toward a cure.

“The American Cancer Society is proud to have the support of Centier Bank, who continues to be a leader in this community by setting an example in supporting us in our mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight to a world without cancer,” explained Nicole Van Duyn, Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society's North Central Indiana Region. “Aside from raising funds to support our programs, our objective with our events is to rally around and show support for our local cancer survivors and their caregivers, and we can’t do that without the support of our corporate partners like Centier Bank.”

Taking place across two weekends in October, Centier’s Lake County team placed third in fundraising for the event’s Top Teams by collecting $3,607, while the Porter County team raised $1,451 at their respective event. Centier Bank also was a corporate-level sponsor for both events.

“Events like the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Cancer give our associates an incredible opportunity to come out in full force and showcase their collective Servant Heart spirit,” said Anthony Contrucci, Vice President of Community Relations and Business Development. “We had an incredible turnout for the event and this donation is just a symbol of what Centier can do when we work together to accomplish something special.”

On behalf of the Centier team, Contrucci was joined by Assistant Vice President and Southlake Branch Manager Chrissy Janusaitis, Assistant Vice President and Valpo North Branch Manager Jenny Stall, and Hobart Branch Manager Amy Bowman, to present the donation to Van Duyn.

“One of the perks of working at Centier Bank is that we are so focused on building and supporting our community,” said Janusaitis. “We tried to think of fun ways to fundraise and get everyone involved. More importantly, we were happy to surpass our goal and can't wait for an even better time next year!”

Bowman, the fifth-highest individual fundraiser at the Lake County event, echoed Janusaitis' enthusiasm for the event.
“There are so many great events that Centier supports and Making Strides Against Cancer is one of most rewarding,” explained Bowman. “I'm proud of the efforts of our team to raise as much as we did to help the fight against cancer.”
