Ohio-based Big Lots is hosting a grand opening ribbon cutting event at its new location at 3201 E. Lincoln Highway in Hobart, east of Southlake Mall at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 30.
The company said this location store will reflect a new format, which is part of a broader initiative to reposition Big Lots as a community retailer offering trustworthy value and friendly service. The first 50 shoppers entering the store on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with assorted items.
Steve Haffer, senior vice president chief customer officer of Big Lots said the new store format brings to life the company’s new brand traits and showcases its assorted products.
Big Lots also will kick off a donation program benefiting Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana. Big Lots will donate $5 to Meals on Wheels each time a BIG Rewards loyalty member redeems a reward at the Hobart store between Nov. 30 and Jan. 12.
“We are honored to be selected by Big Lots as their charitable partner for the grand re-opening,” said Sandra Noe, executive director of Meals on Wheels. “This is a great chance to raise awareness about the meal delivery, wellness check, and volunteer visit Meals on Wheels provides throughout Lake and Porter counties, and engage the community in opportunities to support the mission.”
At the end of its 2017 fiscal year, Big Lots operated 1,416 stores across 47 states, which includes 44 in Indiana. Big Lots also operates five distribution centers across the U.S.
