CARMEL – The BMW Championship will be played in Indiana for the first time this year at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel from Thursday, Sept. 6, through Sunday, Sept. 9.

The PGA tournament brings together the best golfers in the world. The event is expected to attract 125,000 people over its four days and create an economic impact on center Indiana of more than $30 million.

“We are happy to bring the BMW Championship to Indiana and are honored to celebrate our sixth year in partnership with the PGA Tour,” said Ludwig Willisch, president and CEO of BMW of North America.

“The BMW Championship is the penultimate event of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup and is making its Hoosier State debut this year at the beautiful Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel.”

Willisch said the event is more than just a sporting event as the BMW Championship helps students achieve their dreams of attending college.

“All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, the nation's largest privately funded tuition and housing scholarship program and the sole charitable beneficiary of the BMW Championship,” said Willisch.

Since 2007, the BMW Championship has raised more than $11 million for the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Daily and weekly tickets to the BMW Championship are available and juniors 16 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Additionally, with a valid veteran or military ID, all active or retired military personnel receive free admission on any day of the tournament.

The Evans Scholars Foundation was created in 1930 by two Northwestern University students and has been managed since its inception by the Western Golf Association. To date, the foundation has offered more than 10,500 college scholarships to golf caddies, and during the 2012-13 academic school year 835 caddies are attending college on Evans Scholarships.
