United WayVolunteers still are need for the annual Day of Caring event set for Aug. 10 at numerous locations across the Region.

The event is the largest single-day volunteer event across Northwest Indiana. Day of Caring brings together nonprofits, businesses, municipalities, churches, civic groups and individuals to change lives one project at a time.

The day of the event will begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. in Valparaiso and Portage. Then volunteers will head to their project sites. The Valparaiso breakfast site is at the William E. Urschel Pavilion in Downtown Valparaiso and the Portage breakfast site is at the Portage Township YMCA on Willowcreek Road.

There are more than 90 projects available throughout Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties. Volunteers can choose from activities including painting, landscaping, building, cleaning, hosting picnics and taking kids fishing.

Additional information about Lake County projects can be found on the Volunteer Lake County website.

Volunteer projects for Porter and LaPorte Counties can be viewed at Northwest Indiana Regional Volunteer Center website.
