United Way Porter County Names DirectorPORTER COUNTY – The United Way of Porter County has named Kasandra Tenbarge as the new Director of Development for the organization.

“Matching passion for community with the needs of sharing our mission is crucial,” said Kim Olesker, president & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “Kasandra embodies our efforts to build support for our neighbors through the generosity of the community.

Tenbarge work experience includes tenure at The Times Media Company, Purdue Northwest, LARRI 2008 disaster relief program and The University of Chicago. She holds a dual degree in Communication and Culture with a Business Management specialty from IU Bloomington. She currently serves as the Chair for the Northwest Indiana COAD, a voluntary organization which helps to prepare for and coordinate information and resources in times of disaster for the region, as well as the Membership Chair for the Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club.

United Way of Porter County works to lead community collaboration, unite residents and inspire action to improve lives. In 2016, United Way of Porter County provided more than $2.3 million in community support and resources to improve lives of area residents. They also provide volunteer services, connecting more than 8,000 people annually to community projects through programs such as United Way Day of Caring, Young Leaders United, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, AmeriCorps, RSVP, Reading Buddies and the United Way Regional Volunteer Center.
