MERRILLVILLE – Shaver Motors of Merrillville has received the 2011 Joe Krier quality Dealer of the Year award from the Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association.
Shaver, 5701 Broadway, demonstrated a record of good business decisions, honesty, integrity and civic leadership to earn the award.
Owner Mike Shaver Sr. is the third generation of his family at the dealership, which began in 1913 when E.L. Shaver started as a Hudson-Edsel distributor.
Shaver has been on the board of the Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association, involved with local chambers of commerce and is a member of Leedom & Associates First Dealer Twenty Group for Secondary Independent Dealers.
