Purdue Calumet hosts picnic for veterans

HAMMOND – Purdue University Calumet will hold a free picnic for military veterans and their families from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Indiana National Guard Center, 2530 E. 173rd St.

The event will include opportunities for people to speak with Veterans Administration officials about assistance and benefits related to healthcare and housing, as well as the post 9/11 GI Bill.

Administrators from Purdue Calumet and other local colleges and universities will be present to provide information about admissions, financial aid, academic programs and support service.

The Operation Rescue picnic is sponsored by Purdue University Calumet and From Boots to Books”: The Veterans and Student Service Members Academic Support Program.
