SOUTH BEND – The St. Joseph County Airport Authority has hired Tim O’Donnell, as South Bend Airport’s (SBN) Director of Operations and Maintenance. O’Donnell will direct and manage all operations, maintenance and safety functions, including these departments, to ensure quality service to the public and compliance with all FAA regulations.

O’Donnell has nearly 20 years aviation experience. For the past seven years, he has served as Operations Manager/Airport Supervisor at Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. In that capacity, he managed over $20 million in airport projects including facility development and airside infrastructure improvements, among other achievements. O’Donnell began his career as an air traffic controller and has held positions of increasing responsibility at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, John Wayne Airport and American Airports Corporation.

            In addition to an extensive aviation career, O’Donnell is a licensed private pilot. He is actively involved in the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Great Lakes Chapter of AAAE and Aviation Association of Indiana. He is also a former commander of a combat engineer company in the Indiana Army National Guard.

            He holds a bachelor of science in Aviation Management from Eastern Michigan University.
