ND gets $6.1 million science grant

SOUTH BEND – The University of Notre Dame has received a $6.1 million grant from the National Science Foundation for the QuarkNet program. The five-year program includes research into particle physics experiments to teach students and provide training and mentoring opportunities for high school teachers.

Notre Dame and 50 other research institutions are involved in QuarkNet. It provides teachers with eight-week research appointments.
