Bowling fans and supporters of the Catherine McAuley Clinic in Hammond gave the volunteer medical facility a financial boost.

A total of 234 bowlers took part in the sixth annual Rolling for a Reason Catherine McAuley Bowling Fundraiser hosted by Stardust Bowl III in Dyer on Feb. 8. Participants raised $18,912 for the clinic which provides services to the uninsured and underinsured.

The event sold out as bowlers occupied the Dyer site’s 48 lanes.

“I am extremely grateful for the overwhelming support from our community sponsors and Franciscan Health physicians, nurses and employees,” said Rick Peltier, executive director of the Franciscan Health Foundation – Northern Indiana.

“A special ‘thank you’ to Dr. Art Branco and the Branco family for being champions of our success since the inaugural event six years ago,” Peltier said. “Dr. Branco is the heart and soul of our McAuley Clinic annual bowling fundraiser and the true driver of the event’s growth.”

Catherine McAuley Clinic is at 5530 Hohman Ave. in Hammond. The volunteer clinic was created in 1996 to provide medical and referral services at a nominal cost to the medically underserved.
