IU Northwest Communication Business WorkshopGARY – Indiana University Northwest’s School of Business and Economics invites business professionals to learn about “Improv-based Communications for Business” at a workshop from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 13 in the Dunes Medical/Professional Building, Room 1156.

The workshop facilitators, Tom Byelick and Michele Piskol, are from the experiential training and development firm known as “Yes, & then …” The pair, who also work with the comedy-based variety series “The Tomfoolery Show,” explain that improvisation is a concept that can be successfully applied in business.

They explain that improvisation isn’t about comedy. Rather, it is about being focused and present in the moment at a very high level. It is about working with others, building trust and relationships around a shared goal. It is about developing self-confidence, leadership, listening without an agenda and quick thinking under pressure. Much like performers, professionals in the business world need to think quickly on their feet and react and adapt quickly to unexpected events.

The workshop will help attendees increase their collaboration, creativity and risk-taking in the workplace.

About the facilitators
Tom Byelick has more than two decades of experience in the corporate world. Tom’s background, primarily in the pharmaceutical and health care industries consists of roles in sales leadership as well as in training, which provides a keen awareness of the needs of most businesses.

Michele Piskol’s background and tenured experience as an educator and instructional coach help to provide a solid educational foundation for many of the firm’s training offerings.

The registration fee is $35. To reserve your seat at the workshop, visit www.iun.edu/business and click on “Communication Workshop” to register. For more information, visit www.Yes-and-then.com
