SOUTH BEND – The Excel Center will host a Career & College Fair on Tuesday, May 9th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at 2721 Kenwood Avenue in South Bend. The event is open to the public and several employers will be on hand to discuss the career fields they offer. Many will also be prepared to interview candidates for specific job openings. Among those who will be attending are: Visiting Angels, Specialized Staffing, OnStaff USA, MAP of Easton, Senior 1 Care, Four Winds Casino Resort and the South Bend Firefighters. College representatives will also be available to share information about the degrees and programs that they offer. Prospective students can connect with associates from: Bethel College, Indiana University South Bend, Ivy Tech South Bend, Lake Michigan College / Bertrand Crossing Campus and Purdue North Central / Westville.
“The goal of The Excel Center goes beyond earning a Core 40 Diploma. We want Excel graduates to be better prepared for expanding their career and college options. The Career and College Fair will allow our students the opportunity to connect with a few of the many options available to them upon graduation,” comments Randy Beachy, Executive Director. Visitors interested in more information about The Excel Center and obtaining a high school diploma, can speak with staff onsite during the event. The Excel Center is Goodwill LEADS’ public high school offering students 18 years and older an opportunity to earn an Indiana Core 40 High School Diploma at no cost. Classes are conducted by licensed teachers in eight week sessions and an individual academic plan is developed for each student. Free child care is available and a life coach is assigned to provide guidance on balancing family, work and other priorities.

Goodwill LEADS, Inc. is a non-profit entity affiliated with Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. This event is one of many scheduled during Goodwill Industries Week, held this year from May 7 through May 13. It is celebrated annually in May by Goodwill Agencies throughout the country.
