ELKHART – Businesses located in the Elkhart Urban Enterprise Zone (the ZONE) now have a wonderful opportunity to hire workers prepared to fill their employment needs.
Through a new partnership between the Elkhart Urban Enterprise Association and Goodwill Industries of Michiana, businesses and residents within the ZONE are eligible for job training and preparation experience, employee retention assistance, job coaching and placement services. Additionally, participating businesses and residents are eligible for tax credits on their Indiana tax returns.
“Investment in our businesses and residents is not only good for the economy, it is good for Elkhart,” said Dave Osborne, President of the Elkhart Urban Enterprise Association. “By strengthening the employee and business connections within our neighborhoods, we will realize opportunities to build a wonderful framework for community revitalization.”
The ZONE area encompasses a portion of central Elkhart, south of the river to Mishawaka Road, east to Prairie Avenue and west to Nappannee Street. A comprehensive map of the ZONE can be found on the City of Elkhart website at www.ElkhartIndiana.org, then click on Departments/Economic Development/Elkhart Urban Enterprise Association for additional information.
Contact Mary Ellen Albaugh, Goodwill ZONE Program Manager at (574) 296-2884 to learn more about how businesses or residents can become part of the ZONE.
