EDCMC Announces Newly Elected Board Member

MICHIGAN CITY – The Board of Directors for the Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, Indiana (EDCMC) has recently elected Stephanie K. Oberlie as the newest board member for a three year term as a Michigan City Chamber of Commerce appointee.

Stephanie is the Chief Operating Officer & Senior Vice President for Harbour Trust & Investment Management. In Stephanie’s role she oversees the divisions of the company and works to execute strategic initiatives. Born and raised in Michigan City, Stephanie has served on several non-for-profit boards including Duneland Health Council, Michigan City Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce. “We are thrilled to have Stephanie join our board of directors,” said Clarence Hulse, Executive Director of the EDCMC, “She is a well-respected professional in Michigan City and we are fortunate to have someone with her experience on our board.”

Other Board members include: Michigan City Mayor, Ron Meer; Rick Dekker, CEO of Dekker Vacuum Technologies, Inc.; Bill Hackney, Publisher of The News-Dispatch; Tom Edwards, President & CCO of Horizon Bank; Don Babcock, Director Economic Development of NIPSCO; Tim Bietry, Michigan City Council President; Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins, Superintendent of the Michigan City Area Schools; Leif Erickson, Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa Vice President & General Manager; Bill Kaminski, Newby Lewis Kaminski Jones LLP; Dean Mazzoni, President and CEO of Franciscan Health-Michigan City; Mary Jo Orlowski, President of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce; Linda Simmons, Director of Marketing for the La Porte County Conventions and Visitors Bureau; and Joie Winski, La Porte County Auditor.

The purpose of the EDCMC Board of Directors is to uphold the duties and mission of the organization which strives to grow and attract new industry and business to the community as well as strengthening existing business and also guide the staff in policy decisions, strategy, evaluation, and resources.
