ZIONSVILLE – The holiday season is upon us and Centier Bank's associates and clients in Central Indiana stepped up in a big way for a great cause. Through food drives held at Centier's Zionsville and Whitestown branches, the community bank was able to collect over 350 pounds of food for The Caring Center and paired that with a $1,000 donation to support their programs and initiatives.
The drive was led by Brittany Babbitt, Assistant Branch Manager at the Zionsville location, along with Whitestown Universal Banker Demetrius Warren.
“We teamed up with our Whitestown location to choose an organization like The Caring Center because it serves not just one city, but all of Boone County,” explained Babbitt. “The services they provide are so important throughout the year, but especially now during the holiday season.”
The Caring Center, located in Lebanon, distributes food and clothing to thousands in need each year. They also provide educational opportunities focusing on cooking, budgeting and other opportunities to teach about healthy living. The center is solely funded by individual donations and grants from volunteers, and the donations from Centier came at just the right time.
“We rely heavily on food donation, but with the money donated, we are able to fill the gaps in terms of nutrition. We do more than just hand out food to people. We provide education on cooking, budgeting, and host classes. We have a lot of initiatives that increase the pathway to self-sufficiency,” explained The Caring Center's Executive Director Theresa Hanners. “We believe that healthier children learn better and healthier adults are able to work better.”
The food drive and donation serve as examples of how Centier and its associates give back to the communities in which they serve.
